The Cunningham Home.....night
Trevor walks into the darkened Cunningham home. He pauses in the foyer for a moment, breathing hard. After a moment, he quickly sprints up the stairs and walks into his bedroom. He switches on the light. Eric, who had been asleep, is awakened by the light.
"Trev, dude, where have you been, bro?" Eric asks, sitting up in bed.
"Eric, I thought you'd be gone."
"Nah, bro, I called my Dad earlier and it was cool with him that I stay the night. I came back in to tell you and you were gone."
"Yeah, I needed some air, so I just took a drive down to the park. Did my Dad leave?"
"I guess so," replies Eric. "Your Mom isn't here, either."

"Mom's not here?" Trevor asks. "Well, where is she?"
"No idea, bro. When I was trying to find you after I talked to my Dad, your folks were gone too. I was alone here, and dude, your house is kinda creepy at night when you're here alone."
"Yeah," Trevor says. "Where could my Mom and Dad be?"

The Avery home....
Bobby walks into the Avery home. As he quietly heads to the den to go to bed, he is surprised when a light comes on in the living room. Startled, Bobby turns around to find his sister standing at the bottom of the stairs in her bathrobe.
"Well," Betsy says. "Mind telling me where you've been?"
"Out," Bobby replies nervously.
"I already know that. Out......where?"
"What's with the third degree?"
"Bobby, you just got out of jail a little more than twelve hours ago. I'm the one who paid your bail...."
"Yeah, so ya keep reminding me," Bobby says.
"Please tell me you didn't go to see Brandon Williams again."
"Okay, I didn't. I just drove around. I needed to cool off, so, I drove around for a while, then went down to the beach."
"You telling me the truth?" Betsy asks.
"Well," Betsy says. "Mind telling me where you've been?"
"Out," Bobby replies nervously.
"I already know that. Out......where?"

"You telling me the truth?" Betsy asks.
"You know, Betsy, if I'd wanted to put up with having my every move monitored, I could've either stayed in jail or stayed across the street with Mom and Dad. Now it's been a really long, and a REALLY crappy day. I'm tired, and all I wanna do is go to sleep."
Betsy looks at him for a second. "Alright. I think we're all tired. I think I'm gonna just stay up for a while so I don't wake Daniel. I can't fall asleep anyway."
"Why not?" Bobby asks.
"Because I'm worried about Dad. Bobby, Molly knows that Dad is her father."
"Oh God. How did she find out?"
"I don't know. But, my guess is Brandon Williams told her. She confronted Dad and then she left. Dad drove off shortly after her, and I don't know whether he's been out looking for her or what. Mom called Brian and Kate a little while ago and told them what happened. They were gonna go look for Molly."
Bobby shakes his head as he starts to cry. "Damn it," he says. "Brandon Williams. How can one person create so much havoc in the lives of so many other people"
Betsy walks over to her brother and gently touches his face. "Why don't you try and get some sleep? You must be totally exhausted by now. I told Mom to text me if Dad came home or if she heard anything from Kate or Brian about Molly. I'll wake you if there's any news."
"Okay. I'm so tired right now I can't even see straight." Bobby starts to head into the den.
"Bobby," Betsy says.
He turns and looks at her.
"I love you," she continues.
"I love you too, sis. And I'm sorry."
"Sorry for what?"
"Sorry that your twin brother is such a loser," Bobby replies sadly.
"Bobby, you're NOT a loser."
He pauses for a second, looking down at the floor, then looks at his sister. "Thanks. I'm glad at least you feel that way. Night."
"Night," Betsy says as her brother turns and walks into the den, closing the door behind him. Betsy fights back tears as she closes her eyes. "Dear God," she says quietly, almost in a whisper. "Please help my family right now. Please help my father, my brother, and........and Molly, my sister."

Meanwhile....
Numerous marked patrol cars and unmarked detective's cars line the street in front of the Oakview Apartments in downtown Knots Landing. Flashing blue and red lights from the patrol cars illuminate the night as police mull about outside the building and spectators begin to gather, even at the late hour of 11:20 P.M. Upstairs, apartment 419 is crawling with what seems to be dozens of uniformed
officers and as they take photos of the scene and a couple of the detectives look closely at the body of Brandon Williams, who lays on his back next to the coffee table in his living
room. Then, a team of Crime Scene Investigators arrive on the scene.
"What have we got?" One of the newly arrived male investigators asks a detective.
"The victim, Brandon Williams, age twenty-seven," replies the detective. "This is his apartment. Cause of death appears to be a blunt force trauma to the back of the head."
"Who found the victim?"
"That young lady over there," the detective answers, pointing to Amber Carlson, who is seated at Brandon's kitchen table with two female officers.
"Girlfriend?"
"Says she had a date with the victim tonight. Name's Amber Diane Carlson."
The CSI officer and the detective walk into the kitchen to her. "Miss Carlson?"
"Yes," says a nervous Amber, still crying and shaken from her discovery.
"I'm Detective Lutz with Crime Scene Investigation. This is Detective Parker with the Knots Landing Police. Mind if we ask you some questions?"
"Sure," Amber replies.
"Thank you," says Detective Lutz, taking a seat at the table beside her. "Miss Carlson, how well did you know the victim, Brandon Williams?"

"We worked together, at Bradley & Boyd," says Amber.
"The law firm?"
"That's right."
"What were you doing here this time of night?" Parker asks.
"Brandon and I.......we were lovers. I was supposed to spend the night with him," Amber says as she starts to cry.
"Can you tell us what happened? What time did you arrive and find the body?"
"I got here at 11 o'clock on the dot. I noticed that the door to the apartment wasn't closed all the way. I just thought Brandon was maybe in the shower or somethin' and he'd left the door open for me."
"So you came in?" Lutz asks.
"Yes. And as soon as I walked in, I saw him, layin' there. Blood all around his head. I screamed, and then I ran over to him. But he wasn't moving or even breathin'. So I called 911."
"How long have you known Mr. Williams?"
"Not very long. A week or so."
"You've only known him for a week or so, and you were already lovers?" Parker asks.
"Yes. Brandon was very handsome, and very charming. Any girl would have fallen for him."
"Miss Carlson, in the short time you knew the victim, did he ever mention having any enemies? Or, other girlfriends? You said that any girl would have fallen for him. Do you know of any other girls in Mr. Williams's life?"
"There was one," says Amber.
"Do you know her name?"
"Meg. Meg MacKenzie. And you asked me about enemies? The only person I can think of who might have wanted to hurt Brandon, was this Meg's boyfriend. A real jealous guy who Brandon had had a run in with once before. His name is Bobby, somethin'.........Bobby..........Bobby Ewing."
"Thank you, Miss Carlson," Lutz says.
"The law firm?"
"That's right."

The MacKenzie Home....
Karen walks into her and Mack's bedroom as Mack stands at the window staring out into the dark night.
"How is Meg?" He asks.
Karen sighs. "She's finally in bed. Mack, I'm really worried about her. I know something really terrible happened to our baby girl tonight."
Mack turns to face his wife. "And she didn't give you any idea what that was, or where she was tonight?"
"No, none. She only said she didn't wanna talk about it. She said she wanted to be alone."
"I know whatever's wrong it has something to do with that guy Brandon Williams."
"Seems like everything that's been happening in the lives of almost everyone we love has something to do with him."
"And Gary," Mack says. "Gary still hasn't even come home yet."
"Can't the police do something?" Karen asks.
"Not until he's missing for at least twenty-four hours."
"Anything can happen by then. Especially if he's........" Karen stops her sentence abruptly.
Mack looks at his wife. "If he's drinking? Might as well go on and say it, Karen, it's what we're both thinking. This is the first real crisis Gary's faced since he fell off the wagon a couple years ago."
"It almost destroyed them then," says Karen. "I just pray to God they can get through this. I think I'll give Val a call and see if she's heard from him, and if she's alright."
"Karen, it's almost one in the morning."
"I seriously doubt she's asleep."
"How is Meg?" He asks.
Karen sighs. "She's finally in bed. Mack, I'm really worried about her. I know something really terrible happened to our baby girl tonight."

Meanwhile.....down the hall.....
Meanwhile, down the hall, Meg walks into the bathroom and closes the door. She slowly makes her way to the shower and gets in. Turning on the water, she stands almost completely still for a moment
staring blankly into space as the water runs over her body. Meg appears to be in shock over everything that has happened to her this night. Finally grabbing a bottle of body wash from the side of the tub, Meg pours what appears to be almost the entire bottle into the palm of her right hand, then begins lathering her body, starting with her hair. Meg feels dirty, unclean. She feels as if she has to wash the dirtiness
from her body. She begins scrubbing her entire body very hard with her hands, trying to wash away the ugliness of what had happened to her hours earlier......of what had been done to her hours earlier. Then she stops, turns to face the water, and shuts it off. She stands there for a few seconds, staring at the tile on the shower wall, then breaks down in tears. She sinks to her knees in the bathtub, crying as she curls up into a fetal position.
The Ewing Home....the next morning
Val is asleep on the sofa in her living room the next morning, her head laying on the arm rest of the sofa, her body covered by a throw blanket. She is awakened by the sound of the front door opening. She gets up just in time to see Gary walk in.
"Gary," she says, rushing over to him. "Gary, where have you been all night? I've been worried sick."
"I'm sorry," Gary says. "I left in such a rush, I forgot my phone."
"I know. But where were you?"
"I drove around for a while. I was looking for Molly. When I couldn't find her anywhere, I drove around some more."
"Why didn't you come home?" Val asks.
"I was upset. And angry. All I could think about was that bastard, Brandon Williams, and all the pain he's brought to our family. To two of my children. Val, I was so angry, I.......I was seeing red. I literally wanted to kill the guy."
"Is that all you did?" Val asks. "Drive around?"
"Are you asking me if I started drinking again? I sure as hell wanted a drink last night. God help me, I wanted a drink more than at any other time I can remember."
"But, did you......?"
Before Gary is able to answer, Betsy walks in. She breathes a sigh of relief when she sees her father, and walks over to him. "Daddy, thank God. We were all so worried."
"I'm fine," Gary says. "How's your brother?"
"He's......he's okay, I suppose. He was so exhausted last night, he's still asleep, so I didn't wake him."
"Gary," she says, rushing over to him. "Gary, where have you been all night? I've been worried sick."

Gary sighs. "Look, I'm gonna go upstairs, take a shower, and lie down for a while."
"Don't you want some breakfast?" Val asks, standing from her seat.
"No, I'm not hungry. I just want sleep," Gary replies as he heads up the stairs. Val and Betsy watch him as he goes.
"You think he's alright?" Betsy asks.
"Darlin', I don't know. He said he was driving around all night, but, I have this terrible feeling......"
Betsy walks over and puts an arm around her mother.

The Avery Home....
Meanwhile, across the cul-de-sac, Bobby walks into the Avery living room and looks at the television set. He takes a seat on the sofa and picks up the remote. He knows the morning news is on now, and he wants to turn on the TV to see if there's any news about Brandon on, but at the same time, he is hesitant, and afraid of what he might hear. As he stares blankly at the darkened TV screen, Dylan comes down the stairs. He pauses for a moment as he watches Bobby, his back to Dylan. Then Dylan walks over.
"Bobby," he says. "You okay, man?"
Bobby nods his head. "Yeah," he says quietly. "Yeah, I'm fine, Dylan."
"I'm gonna get some cereal. You want any?"
"No. Thanks."
Dylan walks into the kitchen. After the boy leaves the room, Bobby switches on the TV in the living room. A weather report is on, but is almost finished. After the weather is over, a female newscaster comes on with a report of a murder:
"Police in Knots Landing are investigating a possible homicide at the Oakview Apartments on North Highland Avenue. Police were called late last evening to an apartment on the fourth floor of the apartment complex.
"Bobby," he says. "You okay, man?"
Bobby nods his head. "Yeah," he says quietly. "Yeah, I'm fine, Dylan."

The victim, identified as 27-year-old Brandon Christopher Williams, was pronounced dead at the scene...."
Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Dylan pours some milk into a bowl of Frosted Flakes cereal when he hears the name of Brandon Williams on the news in the living room. Dylan immediately rushes into the living room as the newscaster continues:
"There was evidence of a minor struggle at the scene. An autopsy on the victim is being performed by the L.A. County Coroner to officially determine cause of death, which is believed to be blunt force trauma to the head. Knots Landing Police Detective Ronald Parker, who is in charge of the investigation, had this to say:

All we know is we have a 27-year-old caucasian male victim, who appears to have died from blunt force trauma to the head, but we'll know more after the medical examiner completes the autopsy about whether this was an accidental death or a homicide." |
"This is channel 2 action news at 9, Cynthia McCawley reporting."
Meanwhile.....the Cunningham Home
Brian switches off the TV in the kitchen over at the Cunningham home after watching the same news report on Channel 2 as Bobby and Dylan had watched. He sighs deeply as he rubs his hand over his mouth, a worried, even frightened look on his face.
Kate walks into the room. "Brian," she says. "Did you hear the news? Brandon Williams is dead."
"Yeah, I did, I just heard. Good riddance, I say."
"I never thought I'd ever feel that way about the death of another human being."
"Human being?" Brian asks. "Human being? Brandon Williams wasn't a human being. That guy was like a cancer, destroying everything he touched."
"Brian, I'm glad you stayed here last night," says Kate. "I'm so worried about Molly I don't know what to do."
"Me too. Right now, all the problems you and I have had lately seem so small, so......insignificant. Is Trevor okay?"
"I peaked in a few minutes ago. He and Eric are still sleeping."
"Good," Brian says. "Good."
Kate walks into the room. "Brian," she says. "Did you hear the news? Brandon Williams is dead."

The Avery Home....
Bobby walks into the den at the Avery home after shaving. He grabs a shirt from a chair and slips it on. Then he takes a seat and puts on his socks and shoes. As he stands, his cell phone rings. He picks the phone up and looks at the caller I.D. Seeing it's Molly calling, he quickly answers.
"Molly, thank God," Bobby says. "I've been worried sick about you."
"Bobby, I need to see you," Molly says.
"Where are you?"
"The Sunset Star Motel, over on Crestview. Room 118."
"I'll be there as soon as I can," Bobby says. "Molly, are you alright?"
"Bobby, we'll talk when you get here."
"I'll be there in ten minutes." He quickly hangs up, grabs his car keys and rushes out.
"Bobby, I need to see you," Molly says.

The MacKenzie Home....
Mack and Karen walk into their home from the patio while Michael is in the dining room.
"Well, I got the grill all fired up," Mack says. "Michael, you wanna get those steaks?"
"Yeah, sure, Mack," Michael says, walking into the kitchen.
"Hopefully a nice little family cookout will help Meg feel better."
"I'm not so sure about that," Karen says. "Mack, whatever's troubling Meg, it's something very serious, and it has to do with Brandon Williams, i just know it."
"Well, I think that for today, being that it's Saturday, we should just enjoy some family time and not even mention that creep's name around here, especially around Meg. At least we can breathe easier that Gary came home this morning."
"Yeah, Val was relieved. But still worried about where he was last night and if he'd been drinking."
"I think if he'd been drinking, she would have known."
"Here you go," Michael says, returning with five large steaks from the kitchen, ready to be thrown onto the grill.
"Great, thanks," says Mack.
At that moment, Eric walks into the house through the front door. "Hey, where is everybody?" Eric asks as he walks into the house.
"We're in here, honey," Karen replies.
Eric walks into the dining area adjacent to the living room. "Did you guys here the news?"
"No," Karen says.
"What news?" Michael asks.
"Well, I got the grill all fired up," Mack says. "Michael, you wanna get those steaks?"

"No," Karen says.
"What news?" Michael asks.
"I was over at Trevor's and it was on the news.......that dude Brandon Williams, Aunt Meg's ex-boyfriend.......he's dead."
"Dead?" Mack asks, stunned at the news.
Meanwhile, unknown to her family in the next room, Meg comes down the stairs. She pauses at the bottom of the stairs and listens when she hears them talking.
"My God, what happened?" Karen asks.
"The news said the police aren't real sure," replies Eric. "But, umm, they think somebody may have killed him."
"Good Lord," Karen gasps.
"Ah, geez," says Mack, looking at Karen. "This just keeps gettin' better and better, doesn't it?"
"I'd better see how about Meg," Karen says. As she walks into the living room, she sees her daughter standing at the bottom of the stairs. "Meg, honey.......did you hear what we were talking about?"
"Dead?" Mack asks, stunned at the news.

"That Brandon is dead? I heard. I heard and I'm glad. Because now he won't be able to hurt anyone else," Meg replies to Karen's utter surprise. "What are we having for lunch? I'm hungry." Meg walks past her mother, father, brother, and nephew and walks into the kitchen
Mack, Karen, Michael, and Eric all exchange looks of concern over Meg's seeming happiness over the news of the death of this man from her past. Meg's attitude stuns her family since she has always been a very caring and compassionate person, but she seems to either be truly relieved over Brandon's death, or the news has not fully registered with her.

Sunset Star Motel....
Bobby knocks on the door of room 118 of the Sunset Star Motel. A moment later, Molly opens the door. Bobby walks in.
"Molly, thank God," he says, embracing her. "Are you alright? Everybody's been worried sick about you."
"No, Bobby. I'm not alright," Molly replies, holding him tightly. "And I don't care if they're all worried. They all lied to me." Molly pulls out of the embrace and walks across the room. "Bobby, do you know what happened? Do you know about your father and my mother? And that......"
"Yeah, Molly, I know. I found out two nights ago."
Molly turns back to face him. "It's true, isn't it? You're my brother?"
"It's true."
"Oh my God. Bobby, what if we had......" Unable to finish her sentence, Molly breaks down in tears.
"Molly, we DIDN'T," Bobby says, walking over to her. "Thank God, we didn't. I dunno, maybe something inside both of us knew what we were about to do was wrong."
"I can't believe my parents lied to me all my life. I knew they weren't married when I was born, but, I was always told that Brian Cunningham was my father and that he and my Mom just didn't get married until she found out she was pregnant with Trevor."
"I know," says Bobby. "I had it out with Dad after I found out. Molly, I need to ask you something. How did you find out?"
"Molly, thank God," he says, embracing her. "Are you alright? Everybody's been worried sick about you."

"Brandon told me," says Molly. "And he took great pleasure in doing so."
"Yeah," Bobby says. "That son of a bitch is the one who told me, too. Molly, there's something else you should know."
"Brandon's dead," Molly says coldly. "I already know. It's been on the news. He got what he deserved."
"Yeah......he did. Molly, come home with me. You have to let everybody know where you are and that you're safe."
Molly nods her head as she cries. Bobby embraces her again. "I wanted to just leave," she says. "To just keep driving and driving until I was as far away from here as I could get."
"Yeah, that's kinda how I feel right now," says Bobby. "Come on. Let's get you out of here."
"Bobby, will you just take me to my parents' house?" Molly asks. "I just wanna get some things. I don't.......I can't stay there. Not after my mom lied to me all these years."
"Where are you gonna go?"
"A hotel. Or maybe to stay with Uncle Greg. He always told me I was welcome at his place any time."
"Okay."
"Brandon's dead," Molly says coldly. "I already know. It's been on the news. He got what he deserved."

Los Angeles County Coroner's Office....
Meanwhile, at the Los Angeles County Coroner's office, an autopsy is about to begin on the body of Brandon Williams. The medical examiner in charge of the autopsy performs an external examination of the body, noting markings and tattoos on the body. The body had been dressed only in boxers and white gym shorts at the time of Brandon's death, and the assistant ME examines Brandon's clothing for any evidence or stains. Next, the fingernails are examined for evidence left behind of any struggle with another person.....skin tissue, blood, etc.
The Cunningham Home....
"Molly, thank God," Kate says with relief as she embraces her daughter when Molly and Bobby walk into the Cunningham home.
"Molly, honey, we were so worried," says Brian.
"Were you?" Molly asks coldly.
"Of course we were," Kate says. "Molly where were you all night and all day? Bobby, where did you find her?"
"I went to a motel," replies Molly. "I sure didn't wanna come home, and I had no place else to go."
"Molly, don't you think we should talk?" Brian asks.
The young woman looks at her parents angrily. "I have nothing to say to either of you. You both lied to me my whole life."
"Sweetheart, we all thought it was best this way," says Brian.
"Best?" Bobby asks. "Best for who?"
"Molly, honey, we were so worried," says Brian.
"Were you?" Molly asks coldly.
"Of course we were," Kate says. "Molly where were you all night and all day? Bobby, where did you find her?"

"Sweetheart, we all thought it was best this way," says Brian.
"Best?" Bobby asks. "Best for who?"
"You wanna stay outta this, please?" Brian sternly tells Bobby.
"He's already involved in this," says an angry Molly. "He and Betsy were lied to, same as me. When I was growing up, I use to play with them. Betsy use to babysit me, and all these years, I never knew they were my brother and sister. Bobby and I had become close, Mom. In fact, we almost SLEPT together. How would you live with the fact that your daughter had sex with her own half-brother if we had gone through with it, all because you didn't want your torrid little affair with Gary Ewing to be known?"
"It wasn't a torrid little affair," Kate says. "I fell in love with Gary."
"A married man."
"A man that thought he was a widower. Everyone thought Val was dead."
Molly looks at her mother and shakes her head. "I can't listen to anymore of this. I'm going upstairs, and pack my things. Then Bobby is taking me to Uncle Greg's. I already called him and he said that I could stay as long as I need to at his ranch."
"Molly, don't, please," Brian says, grabbing her by the arm as she starts up the stairs. "Let's just sit down and talk about this calmly, just you, me, and your mother."
"No. I'm done listening to all of your lies," Molly says. She pulls away from him and hurries up the stairs.
"Bobby, please," says Kate. "Please talk to her. Try to make her understand....."
"How can I when I don't even understand myself? I remember how you were there for us after my Mom was presumed dead in Florida. You were like another mom to me and Betsy. We came to love you, Kate, and all that time you were sleeping with our father. My mother was only gone for a few months, and neither you nor my father had the decency to wait a respectable period of time before you jumped in the sack together."
"How dare you talk to my wife like that," Brian says. "You were just a little kid, you don't understand the situation."
Bobby looks at them both for a moment. "Maybe I don't. Okay, I apologize, Kate. I guess I can see how you and my father would be drawn to one another, spending so much time together back then. But that still doesn't excuse the fact that you lied to Molly about who her father was, and my parents lied to me and Betsy. That's what's inexcusable. I'm gonna go help Molly pack her things." Without another word, Bobby bolts up the stairs.
Kate begins to cry. Brian gently puts his hands on her shoulders to comfort her. Kate turns around and embraces him. "Brian, what have we done? What have we done to our little girl? Maybe we should've told her the truth all along."
"He's already involved in this," says an angry Molly. "He and Betsy were lied to, same as me. When I was growing up, I use to play with them. Los Angeles County Coroner's Office....
After more than four and a half hours, the autopsy on the body of Brandon Williams has finally been completed and the cause of death determined. "I'll get these notes transcribed and fax them over to the Police Department ASAP," says one of the male medical examiners to the other who had performed the autopsy on Brandon.
"Yeah," the female ME says. "I'm sure the police are gonna want this evidence right away for their investigation."
"Yeah," the female ME says. "I'm sure the police are gonna want this evidence right away for their investigation."
Knots Landing Police Station.....later
Detective Ronald Parker is working at his desk at the Knots Landing Police Station late in the afternoon looking over some papers when his female partner, Detective Nikki Randall, walks in.
"Perfect timing," Parker says.
"Oh?"
"The coroner just faxed over the autopsy report on Brandon Williams. And our guess was right. It was definitely a homicide." Parker picks up the autopsy report and hands it to his partner.
Detective Randall takes the report and skims over it. "Cause of death is blunt force trauma to the back of the head, causing a laceration and a severe loss of blood."
"Yep. I talked to the medical examiner who performed the post mortem, and he says the cause of death was most probably loss of blood due to the blow. The initial head trauma simply knocked the victim unconscious."

"According to the report, the victim had had sexual intercourse shortly before his death."
"That's right. Semen stains were found on his underwear, and vaginal secretions were also present on the victim's clothing and his body. Problem is, the girl who found the body, Amber Carlson, a supposed girlfriend of the victim, claims she and Williams had not been sexually intimate that evening."
"So she's either lying, or he was playing her," Randall says. "Any suspects in mind?"

"Meg MacKenzie," says Detective Randall.
"Yeah."
"You know her? I get that impression."
"Yeah, I know OF her," says Parker. "She's a lawyer, recently graduated from law school, and she's the daughter of Mack MacKenzie."
"MacKenzie & Associates?" Randall asks.
"Yep. Apparently, the victim dated Meg MacKenzie when they were in law school together. William also had a couple recent run-ins with Miss MacKenzie's boyfriend, a guy by the name of Bobby Ewing. Ewing was arrested just a couple days ago for assaulting Williams."
Detective Randall sighs. "Oh, wow. MacKenzie and Ewing, two prominent names in this community."
"Oh, yeah. And here we thought we'd just landed a typical, boring homicide investigation."
"Well, suppose now we go and see Meg MacKenzie and Bobby Ewing and asks some questions," says Detective Randall.
"Meg MacKenzie," says Detective Randall.
"Yeah."

The Cunningham Home....evening
Kate sits along on the Cunningham patio that evening when Brian walks out to her. "Kate," he says. "I was just about to leave."
"We really messed up, didn't we?" Kate asks.
"I'm the one who messed up. I'm the one who wanted to raise Molly as my own daughter and never tell her the truth."
Kate looks at him. "We all agreed to it, Brian. Me, Gary, and you. You wanted to raise Molly because you loved her like she was your own."
"I still do."
"I know."
"Kate, I think Molly will stay at your Uncle Greg's for a while, and once she cools down, she'll talk to us."
"I hope you're right," Kate says. "I'm also worried about Trevor. Brian, that incident with Brandon Williams really traumatized him. He's hardly said a word all day, and he hasn't come out of his room. He didn't eat lunch or dinner."
"Brandon Williams," Brian says with gritted teeth. "Everytime I think about that guy, I just wanna....... well, he's dead. He can never harm either of our kids again. Or anyone else."
"Brian, would you please........would you stay again tonight? With Molly gone and Trevor so upset, I'd feel better with you here."
"Of course. I'll be glad to stay."
"Thank you," Kate says.
Meanwhile, upstairs, Trevor paces nervously around his bedroom. Then he walks over and takes a seat on his bed. His mind flashes back to the day before, when Brandon broke into his bathroom and threatened him. Trevor closes his eyes and starts to cry.

The Avery Home....
As Daniel, Betsy, Dylan, Bobby, and the two children sit down to dinner, the doorbell rings. "I'll get it," Betsy says. "You guys go ahead and start." She gets up from the table, makes her way from the dining room into the living room and opens the door to find the two detectives from Knots Landing PD there.
"Is Bobby Ewing here?" Detective Parker asks.
"Yes, he is. And who are you?"
Parker takes out his badge and shows it to her. "I'm Detective Ronald Parker with the Knots Landing PD. This is my partner, Detective Nikki Randall. We need to speak with Bobby Ewing, please."
"Come in," Betsy says nervously. The two walk into the house and she closes the door. Betsy walks to the dining room. "Bobby, there are two detectives here to see you."
Bobby's heart immediately jumps into his throat when he hears that the police want to see him. He and Dylan exchange worried looks with each other, then Bobby stands to his feet and walks into the living room.
"Are you Bobby Ewing?" Detective Randall asks.
"Yes, I am."
"I'm Detective Ronald Parker, Knots Landing PD," Parker says, again showing his badge. "My partner, Detective Randall. We need to ask you some questions, Mr. Ewing."
"What's this about?" Betsy asks.
"The death of Brandon Christopher Williams," replies Detective Randall.
"Please sit down, Mr. Ewing," Detective Parker says.
Bobby takes a seat on a chair while the two detectives remain standing. Betsy returns to the dining room.

"The death of Brandon Christopher Williams," replies Detective Randall.
"Please sit down, Mr. Ewing," Detective Parker says.
Bobby takes a seat on a chair while the two detectives remain standing. Betsy returns to the dining room.
"You are aware that Brandon Williams died last night?" Parker asks.
"Yeah, I heard it on the news," answers a nervous Bobby.
"You recently had a couple of fights with Williams?" Asks Detective Randall. "And you were arrested for assaulting him?"
"Yes," Bobby replies quietly and nervously, his voice shaky.
"Mr. Ewing, where were you last night between the approximate hours of nine and ten-thirty P.M.?" Detective Parker asks.
Bobby looks at the two detectives, his heart pounding inside of his chest, afraid of what to say.

The MacKenzie Home....later
A little more than an hour later, Detectives Parker and Randall are across the cul-de-sac questioning Meg about Brandon's murder, as a worried Mack and Karen look on.
"Miss MacKenzie, we can appreciate how difficult this is for you," says Detective Randall. "So we'll try to make this as brief as possible. How long had you known the victim, Brandon Williams?"
"Miss MacKenzie, we can appreciate how difficult this is for you," says Detective Randall. "So we'll try to make this as brief as possible. How long had you known the victim, Brandon Williams?"
"I had known him for.......about......three years," Meg replies, as if still in some state of shock. "I met him at law school in 2012."
"And you were in a dating relationship with him?"
"Yes?"
"For how long?" Parker asks.
"Two years."
"What ended the relationship?" Randall asks.
"Brandon......he........he was cheating on me."
"When was the last time you saw Williams?" Parker asks.
Meg remains silent for several seconds and looks away, as if she is about to cry.
"Miss MacKenzie?" Randall says.
"Look, can't you see my daughter's upset?" Mack asks. "This has been a terrible shock for her. For all of us. I'm sure this questioning can wait until morning at least."
"Of course, Mr. MacKenzie," says Parker.
After a brief hesitation, the two detectives stand. "Thank you for your cooperation, Miss MacKenzie," Detective Parker says.
Meg again remains silent, as if she didn't even hear the detective's words. Parker and Randall exchange looks, then look at Mack and Karen. "We'll see ourselves out," Parker tells them.
"Thank you," Karen says. The two detectives leave. Mack and Karen walk over to Meg and Karen takes a seat beside her daughter on the sofa. She puts her arm around the young woman. "Meg, sweetheart, are you sure you're alright? Your father and I are worried about you."
"Meg, honey, listen to me," Mack says, kneeling in front of his daughter. "If there's somethin' you need to tell me, now's the time. I noticed you looked really nervous when that detective asked you when you last saw Brandon, and you didn't answer. Honey, when did you last see him? Did you see him last night?"
Meg looks at her father and still says nothing.
"Meg......."
"Mack, please," Karen says. "You don't have to do this now."
"Karen, this is a murder investigation now, and I have to know where Meg was last night and if she saw Brandon Williams before he was murdered."
"Mom, I'm tired, and I feel sick," Meg says. "I wanna go up to bed."
"Alright, honey, come on," says Karen. She puts her arm around Meg and helps her up. Karen looks at Mack with worry, then Mack watches as his wife helps Meg up the stairs and to bed.
Mack sighs with both worry and frustration as he puts his hand over his mouth and shakes his head. He knows Meg is hiding something.
"And you were in a dating relationship with him?"
"Yes?"

Knots Landing Police Station.....later that night
"They were both hiding something," Detective Parker says later, after he and Randall have returned to the police station.
"Oh, ya think?" Randall says sarcastically. "So, Ewing claims he went out for a drive and then went and sat on the beach for a couple hours last night. And Meg MacKenzie.......she didn't say ANYTHING."
"Did you notice the look on her face when she was talking about Williams?"
"Oh, you bet I did. The girl was scared. Or traumatized. Or both. We've got to get her to tell us where she was last night. If only her father hadn't broken into the conversation and stopped her from answering."
"Bobby Ewing and Meg MacKenzie aren't our only suspects, though. There's this....Molly Cunningham, the girl Williams had been seeing until recently."
"Wow," Randall says with a slight laugh. "The guy was a real player, wasn't he? Meg MacKenzie, Molly Cunningham, Amber Carlson. I wonder who else was in his harem."
"Not surprising. Young, good looking professional guy. Apparently he was real charming with the ladies. Could have been any one of them......MacKenzie, Carlson, Cunningham, any one jealous of the other two."
"I'm not so sure. I had a suspicion Bobby Ewing wasn't telling us the truth," Randall says. "Notice how anxious and nervous he was all during questioning?"
"Yeah, I did. But let's talk to these other suspects tomorrow."
"Okay, who else do we have on the list?"
"Molly Cunningham for sure. We'll talk to her in the morning and then go from there."
"Oh, ya think?" Randall says sarcastically. "So, Ewing claims he went out for a drive and then went and sat on the beach for a couple hours last night. And Meg MacKenzie.......she didn't say ANYTHING."

The Sumner Home....the next morning
Molly walks out of Greg Sumner's rambling ranch house the next morning and into the bright, warm sunshine. Looking down toward the field, she sees Greg out enjoying an early morning horseback ride. She walks down to the fence as Greg trots his horse over to her.
"Hiya, kid," Greg says.
"Morning, Uncle Greg," Molly says.
"How'd ya sleep?"
"Not very well. I may have dozed off for about fifteen minutes, but that's it."
"Ya know, we really didn't have much of a chance to talk last night," says Greg. "What's goin' on with you?"
Molly looks at her great-uncle and sighs. "You mean, why am I here?"
"You know you're more than welcome here anytime you want, for as long as you want. I was just wondering if everything's okay between you and your folks."
"No. Everything's not okay," says a sad Molly. "Things are worse than they've ever been."
"Anything you wanna talk about?" Greg asks. "Or does this have anything to do with that guy Brandon Williams were you seein' for a while, and with him endin' up dead?"
Molly hesitates for a moment. "In a way. Uncle Greg, did you know that Brian Cunningham isn't my father?"
"What'd you just say?" Greg asks, a surprised look on his face. "Brian's not your........no, I DIDN'T know."
"Neither did I. At least not until a couple days ago. My Mom was already pregnant with me when she met my Dad......Brian."
"I see. And do you know who your real father is?"
"Yeah." Molly looks at him and pauses a moment before answering. "Uncle Greg, my real father is someone you know. Gary Ewing is my father."
"What? Gary Ewing?"
"That's right. I feel so confused right now. So hurt because my parents lied to me for twenty-one years."
"I understand. I can relate. Ya know, I was even older than you when I found out that Paul Galveston was my real father, and it was quite a shock."
"I can't go home to my parents' house, Uncle Greg. I don't know if I can ever go back there."
"Well, like I said, kid, you can stay here for as long as you like. I'll enjoy havin' the company around."
As Molly and Greg talk at the fence, a Crown Victoria drives up to the Sumner ranch and comes to a stop near the house.
"I wonder who that can be," Greg says. He climbs down from his horse and motions for his young stableman to come over. "Nick, take my horse back to the stables, would ya?"
"Yes sir, Mr. Sumner," Nick says, taking the animal's reigns.
"Let's go see what's up," Greg says to Molly as he walks through the gate and closes it. He and Molly make their way up to the house as the two detectives are walking up the front steps. "May I help you?" Greg asks them.
"Are you Molly Cunningham?" Detective Parker asks the young woman.
"Yes," replies a nervous Molly.
"Miss Cunningham, I'm Detective Randall and this is Detective Parker," Randall says, showing their badges to Greg and Molly. "We'd like to ask you some questions about Brandon Williams."
"What's this all about?" Greg asks.
"We just need to ask Miss Cunningham some questions," Parker replies.
"Do I need a lawyer?" Molly asks.
"That certainly is your right, Miss Cunningham," Randall says. "But these are just routine questions about your relationship with Mr. Williams."
Molly looks at Greg, then at the two detectives. She nods. "Okay."
"Let's go inside," says Greg.
LATER...

LATER...
As Greg looks on, Detectives Randall and Parker sit with Molly in the Sumner living room as they question her.
"How long did you know Brandon Williams?" Parker asks.
"How long did you know Brandon Williams?" Parker asks.
"Not very long," answers Molly. "Just, a few weeks."
"And you were involved in a romantic relationship with him?" Randall asks.
"Yes."
"When was the last time you saw Brandon Williams?"
"Friday afternoon."
"The day that he was killed?" Parker asks.
"Yes," Molly replies.
"Miss Cunningham, did you have sex with Brandon Williams the night he was killed?" Parker asks, illiciting a displeased look from his partner.
"What? No."
"Why did you relationship end?" Randall quickly asks.
"I found out what a creep he really was," Molly says.
The two detectives exchange looks.

Knots Landing Police Station.....later
Three hours later, Detectives Parker and Randall, as well as a detective from the CSI division of the LAPD, are in a small interrogation room at the Knots Landing Police Station questioning Brian.
"Mr. Cunningham, you were angry with Brandon Williams because of your daughter?" Parker asks.
"Of course, I was," Brian says. The guy treated my little girl like pure crap. Any father would be angry about that."
"Did you see Brandon Williams the day he was killed?" Randall asks.
"No."
LATER....

LATER....
After Brian, Kate is the next one to be interviewed by the police.
"Mrs. Cunningham, did you withdraw one hundred and ten thousand dollars from your account at Knots Landing Bank & Trust on Friday to give to the deceased, Brandon Williams?" Detective Parker asks.
"Yes, I did," answers a nervous Kate.
"Why?" Randall asks.
"To get out of town and leave my daughter alone and leave town."
"Come on now, Mrs. Cunningham," says the CSI detective. "You're gonna have to do better than that. "That's a LOT of money to pay some undesirable to leave your daughter alone and get outta town."
"Mrs. Cunningham, understand that you're not obligated to answer these questions without an attorney present," Randall tells her. "But if you've got nothing to hide, then I'm sure you'd be willing to answer the question."
Kate hesitates for a moment. "I think that I would like to have my attorney present. Mack MacKenzie."
"Well you're in luck," Parker says. "Mack MacKenzie just happens to be in the waiting room down the hall. I'll get him." Parker stands and walks out of the room.
Randall and the CSI detective exchange looks, then Randall looks at Kate with suspicion, certain that Kate Cunningham is hiding something.
Meanwhile just down the hall, Mack, Karen, and Meg sit in a waiting room. As Mack paces anxiously, Karen and Meg sit on a bench, Karen nervously wringing her hands.
"How much longer is this gonna take?" Asks an impatient Karen.
"I dunno," replies Mack.
At that moment, Detective Parker walks in. "Excuse me, Mr. MacKenzie?"
"Yes, are you ready for Meg?"
"No, but we do need you down the hall. Someone we have in our interrogation room has requested your presence during questioning."
"Oh, of course," Mack says. He looks at Karen and Meg, then follows the detective out.
Karen notices that Meg is shivering. "Are you cold, sweetheart?"
"No. I just wanna get this over with."

BACK IN THE INTERROGATION ROOM....
Mack and Detective Parker walk into the interrogation room. "Kate," Mack says.
"Hello, Mack. Thank you for coming in."
"Yeah, no problem."
"We were just asking Mrs. Cunningham some questions about her association with the victim, and she felt she would be more comfortable if her attorney were present," Randall says.
"Sure," says Mack.
"Mrs. Cunningham, in repeating our question to you, why did you pay Brandon Williams one hundred and ten thousand dollars?"
"He was blackmailing me," Kate says in a lowly voice, her eyes looking down.
"I'm sorry, would you repeat that?" Asks the CSI detective.
"Brandon Williams was blackmailing me."
"Blackmailing you with what?" Randall asks.
"The truth about who my daughter's biological father is."
"Hello, Mack. Thank you for coming in."
"Yeah, no problem."

Later....
Gary is next to be interviewed by the police. His questioning is taking place at the Knots Landing Police Station by Detective Ronald Parker and another detective from the LAPD's homicide division.
"So, Mr. Ewing," Parker says. "Molly Cunningham is your biological daughter, and you believe that Brandon Williams is the one who told Molly that you're her father?"
"Yes, I do," Gary replies.
"Why do you think that?"
"Because Brandon Williams the the kind of scum of the earth who would do anything he could to hurt people, just for kicks."
"I thought you said you didn't even know Williams personally," says the homicide detective.
"I didn't," Gary says with a sigh. "But I knew enough OF the guy. He caused my family no end of pain. He had my son Bobby arrested for assault, an assault Williams himself provoked, AND he told Bobby that Molly is my daughter."
"You were angry with Williams?" Parker asks.
"Yes, I was."
"Angry enough to kill the guy?" Asks the homicide detective.
Gary looks at the two detectives and remains silent.
"Mr. Ewing, where were you Friday night between the hours of nine and ten-thirty P.M.?" Parker asks.
"I was........I drove around for a couple of hours."
"Then you went home?" The homicide detective asks.
Gary lowers his head and remains silent.
"Mr. Ewing?"
"No, I didn't go home."
"Where'd you go?"
"I went to a bar," Gary replies angrily.
"So, Mr. Ewing," Parker says. "Molly Cunningham is your biological daughter, and you believe that Brandon Williams is the one who told Molly that you're her father?"

Meanwhile....
Across the hall in another interrogation room, while Mack sits at the table with his daughter, Meg is being questioned by Detective Nikki Randall and the detective from LAPD's CSI.
"Miss MacKenzie, when we were talking last night, you became upset," Randall says. "Do you feel you're able to continue questions now?"
Meg looks at the two detectives and nods.
"Good. When did you last see Brandon Williams alive?"
"I......I saw him on Friday."
"You saw him on Friday? The day of his death?"
"Yes."
"Did you just run into him in town? What?" Asks the CSI detective.
"I had dinner with him at his apartment," Meg answers, to Mack's astonishment. "I made a deal with him. One last dinner in exchange for him dropping the assault charges against Bobby."
"Bobby Ewing?"
"That's right."
"Did you have sex with Williams that night?"
"No," Meg answers very quickly and sharply.
"Would you be willing to submit to an examination?" Randall asks.
"An examination for what?" Mack asks. "My daughter already answered your question, she said she didn't have sex with the guy."
"She also willingly admitted to being in the victim's apartment, alone with him, the night of his murder," says the CSI detective. "The autopsy on Brandon Williams proves that he'd had sexual intercourse no more than two hours prior to his death. Another woman he had been seeing tested negative, so she had NOT had sex with Williams on Friday night. Mr. MacKenzie, if need be, we'll get a court order."

"Thank you, Miss MacKenzie," Randall says. "We'll have the exam done right away."
Later in the afternoon....
Bobby is again being questioned by the Knots Landing PD, this time at the police station.
"Look, I don't understand why I'm here," says an impatient Bobby. "You already asked a bunch of questions about Brandon Williams last night."
"And you told us that you went down to the beach Friday night," Detective Parker says.
"That's right."
"Well, Mr. Ewing, you were seen buying gas at a convenience store one block from Brandon Williams's apartment on Friday night at approximately, 10 P.M. That's several miles from the beach, and it's around the time the coroner believes Brandon Williams was murdered."
"Yes, I filled my car up with gas, I didn't even realize I was that close to Williams's apartment," Bobby says.
"Were you aware that your girlfriend, Meg MacKenzie, was having dinner with Williams at his apartment Friday evening?" Asks the detective from LAPD homicide.
Bobby looks at the man in surprise. "No."
"So you weren't just........'in the neighborhood'........checking up on Meg MacKenzie and Brandon Williams?"
"No, I wasn't. Look, am I under arrest here?"
"No, Mr. Ewing, you're not," Parker replies.
"Then am I free to go?"
"You can go. For now. But I would suggest that you consult with an attorney, and don't leave town."
A worried and frustrated look crosses Bobby's face. He stands to his feet, looks at the two men, then leaves.
"Put a tail on him," the other detective tells Parker. "Make sure he doesn't think about skipping town."
"Don't worry. I intend to."
"Look, I don't understand why I'm here," says an impatient Bobby. "You already asked a bunch of questions about Brandon Williams last night."

The MacKenzie Home.....that night
Late that Sunday night, as Meg lays in bed trying to sleep, her rest is haunted by horrific nightmares of the brutal attack she suffered two nights before at the hands of Brandon Williams, a man she once loved. An attack that occurred within two hours of his murder. Meg tosses and turns and cries out in her sleep. "No.....no......" she moans. "Brandon, stop.......don't." Finally she is literally fightened awake by the nightmare, her eyes suddenly opening wide as she stares up at the ceiling. She turns
over in bed onto her left side. Tears begin falling from her eyes, down her face and onto her pillow. "Oh my God," she cries. "What have I done? What have I done?"
Knots Landing Police Station.....the next morning
Detective Nikki Randall is talking with another detective at the police station the next morning when a uniformed officer approaches her and hands her a sealed envelope.
"Thank you," Randall says, taking the envelope. She opens it, takes out two folded pieces of paper and looks at them. She smiles.
A few minutes later, she walks over to the desk she shares with her partner, Detective Ronald Parker.
"What's up?" Parker asks.
"This was just delivered. I asked forensics to put a rush on the results of that examination Meg MacKenzie agreed to yesterday. They worked round the clock."
"Good, so what are the results?"
"Thank you," Randall says, taking the envelope. She opens it, takes out two folded pieces of paper and looks at them. She smiles.

"We still don't have a 100% positive answer until all the DNA tests are back in a couple days," Randall says. "But forensics is 95% sure that the woman Brandon Williams had sexual intercourse with shortly before his death.......was Meg MacKenzie."
"Damn," Parker says.
"That's not all. CSI also sent over a report. A small bloody thumb print was found on the floor of Brandon Williams's apartment, just two feet from where the body lay. That thumb print belongs to none other than Bobby Ewing."
"Could Ewing and MacKenzie have done this together?"
"Could be. But my guess is, Ewing came over, caught his girlfriend with her ex getting it on, and killed him. Or maybe Meg MacKenzie had already left the apartment before the murder. Ewing was in the neighborhood, we know that. He could have seen her leave, and then gone up to confront Williams."
"Point is, we have a piece of physical evidence linking one of our suspects to the murder scene," Parker says. "Let's haul Ewing in. And then, we get Meg MacKenzie back in for more questioning."
"Damn," Parker says.

The Avery Home.....a short time later
While Dylan is sitting in the living room watching a movie on TV, Bobby walks into the room.
"Hey, man," Dylan says.
"Hey. Where's Betsy?" Bobby asks.
"She took Laura and Daniel Jr. to the pediatrician's for their checkups for school and stuff."
"Oh. I feel like I was hit by a ton of bricks."
"You haven't been sleeping well, have you?" Dylan asks.
"More like hardly at all. I usually don't fall asleep until around 7 in the morning. I think I'm gonna go up and take a shower."
"Bobby?"
"Yeah, Dylan?" Bobby says, stopping at the stairs and turning to the point.
"Everything's gonna be okay, right......?"
"Dylan, I honestly don't know anymore. But, just don't....."
Before Bobby can finish his sentence, the doorbell rings.
"Damn," Bobby complains. He walks to the door and opens it to find Detectives Parker and Randall.
"Bobby Ewing, you're under arrest."
"What? Arrest?"
Dylan springs to his feet from the sofa and looks on in shock.
"You're under arrest on suspicion of murder of Brandon Christopher Williams. Please put your arms behind you."
Bobby does as he's told, and Parker handcuffs him.
Randall continues reading Bobby his rights: "You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say
