The Ewing Home....night
A few moments later, Gary and Val walk into the house and stop short when they see Bobby standing in the living room.
"Bobby," Val says. "We're glad you're home."
"You okay, son?" Gary asks.
"Okay? Okay?" Bobby repeats. "No, I'm not okay, Dad. I don't even know what that word means anymore."
Val looks at Gary, then walks over to their son. "Sweety, what's wrong?"
"I dunno, Mom." Bobby looks over Val's shoulder at his father. "Why don't you tell us, Dad? What's wrong? Just exactly what IS wrong with our family?"
"Bobby, I don't know what you're talking about," Gary says, walking over to his wife and son.
Before anyone else can say anything, the doorbell rings. Gary sighs deeply, then walks over and opens the door. He and Val are surprised to see two police officers at the door.
"Is Bobby Ewing here?" One of the officers asks.
"Yes," replies Gary. "What's this all about?"
"We need to see Bobby Ewing."
"Come in," Gary says, stepping out of the officers' way.
The two police officers walk into the house. "Bobby Ewing?" The second officer asks.
"Yeah. I'm Bobby Ewing."
The first officer walks over to him. "Bobby Ewing, you're under arrest for assault of Brandon Christopher Williams," he says, grabbing Bobby's hands to cuff them.
"What?" Asks a stunned Val.
"There must be some mistake," Gary says.
"No mistake, sir," one of the officers says as he and his partner lead a handcuffed Bobby from the house.
"Gary, do something," Val pleads as she watches her son being led out in handcuffs....
The MacKezie home.....night
"It'll be nice to have Eric home, won't it?" Karen asks.
"Yeah, it will," Meg replies. "I wonder how it went when he told his mother he wants to stay with Michael after summer's over."
Karen sighs. "Well, knowing Lori, not very well. But Eric is seventeen now, and legally he can decide who he wants to live with."
"You're happy he wants to stay here, aren't you?" Meg asks.
Karen looks at her daughter and smiles. "Yes, I am. Maybe I'm wrong, but, I love having at least one of my grandchildren around. Besides, Lori is........well, I can definitely see a big difference in Eric now from when he and Michael first came here at the beginning of summer. He's calmed down a lot, and he doesn't have as much of an attitude as he did before."
At that moment, the front door opens, and Michael and Eric walk into the house.
"Hey, welcome back, sport," Mack says, standing to greet the young man.
"Thanks."
"Hi, honey," Karen says, coming in from the dining room to hug her grandson. "How was your visit with your mother?"
"Oh, Mom is the same as always."
"Hey, something's going on over at Gary and Val's," Michael says.
"What do you mean?" Asks Karen.
"There's a police car parked in front of their house, and their front door's open."
"A police car?" Meg asks. She quickly walks out of the house to see what's going on next door, followed by Karen, Mack, Michael, and Eric. As Meg reaches the end of the MacKenzie lawn, she sees Bobby being led out of the Ewing home in handcuffs by two police officers. "Bobby," she says to herself. The MacKenzies and Fairgates all walk next door. "Bobby?" Meg says. "Bobby, what's going on?"
"Arrested for what?" Meg asks as Karen walks over and puts an arm around an upset Val.
"Oh, hi, Mr. MacKenzie. Oh, Ewing here worked over some guy named Brandon Williams. The guy's pressing assault charges."
"Brandon Williams?" Mack asks, looking at a stunned Meg.
"Yeah. Talk to you later, Mr. MacKenzie."
"Yeah, sure," Mack says. He and the others watch as the two officers get into the patrol car and drive off with Bobby in the back.
"What happened?" Karen asks Gary and Val.
"We don't know," answers Val.
"We just got home, we were in the living room talking, and then the police came," says Gary.
"Mack, can't you do something?" Val asks as Betsy and Daniel walk over to them.
"I'll try. I'll go down to the police station and see what I can do."
"Mom, what's happening?" Betsy asks, worried. "We just saw a police car drive off."
"Your brother's been arrested," Gary replies.
"Arrested?"
"For what?" Daniel asks.
"Assaulting someone. Mack, if you don't mind, I'd like to go with you."
"Sure, Gary, let's go."
"Gary, I'm coming with you," says Val.
"No, honey, you stay here," Gary says as he follows Mack toward the MacKenzie driveway and Mack's car.
Spotting Dylan and Trevor come out of the Avery house, Eric walks over to his two friends.
"Hey, man, you're back," says Trevor.
"Yeah. Did you guys see what just happened?" Eric asks.
"No, what?" Dylan asks.
"Bobby Ewing just got hauled away by the cops. They said he beat up some guy named Brandon...... Williams, I think. Trev, isn't that your sister's new boyfriend?"
Trevor and Dylan exchange worried looks between them.
Knots Landing Police Station.....later
"So you went to this guy's apartment and just slugged him?" Mack asks Bobby, sitting across from him in the interrogation room.
"Yes, I already told you."
"Yeah, but ya didn't tell me why you hit the guy. Did it have anything to do with Meg?"
Bobby simply looks away without answering.
"Look, Bobby, if I'm gonna help ya, you've gotta tell me the truth."
Bobby sighs, then stands to his feet. He walks across the room, then looks back at Mack. "Williams has been trying to cause problems for Meg and for me since he came to town."
"How so?" Mack asks.
"First, he was harassing Meg, showing up at places where she would be, such as the law library. She told him to leave town, that it was over between them and she wanted nothing more to do with him. So what does the guy do? He hooks up with Molly just so he can stay close to Meg. I told him to leave town, and he mouthed off, so I hit him. When Meg threatened him that she was gonna tell Molly what he was all about, Williams threatened to press charges against me for that time."
"For that time? You mean tonight was the second time you assaulted this guy?" Mack asks.
"Yeah, I guess you could say that."
"Bobby, what the hell were you thinking?"
"Mack, what was I supposed to do?" Bobby asks. "The guy wouldn't leave town, he wouldn't leave Meg alone, and then he was using Molly."
"First of all, you coulda come to me, I'm not only Meg's father but also a lawyer and a former prosecutor, I coulda took some legal course of action to get this guy to go away. Ya don't go around solving problems with ya fists."
"So I'm gonna have to spend the night in this place."
"I'm afraid so. But don't worry. I'll try to get an arraignment hearing as early as possible in the morning, and hopefully by lunchtime you'll be home. One other thing, Bob, you didn't tell me what brought on this assault on Williams tonight."
"Does it really matter?" Bobby asks.
"If I'm gonna represent you, damn right it matters. Now why did you go over to this guy's apartment and slug him? Was he messin' with Meg again?"
"In a way. He sent Meg some photos."
"What kind of photos?" Mack asks.
"Photos of me and Molly Cunningham," Bobby replies.
"Photos of you and Molly Cunningham," repeats Mack. "Doing WHAT, exactly?"
"On the beach. Molly found out exactly what kind of son of a bitch Brandon Williams is, and she was upset. Williams must have been following us, because he snapped pictures and sent them to Meg to cause trouble between her and me."
"Oh, boy," Mack says. "This just gets better and better. So Meg confronted you with the pics and you in turn went over and confronted Williams, is that it?"
"Yeah. But I didn't punch him until he told me that....." Bobby stops talking and lowers his head.
"Told you that......what, Bobby? Come on, if I'm gonna help you, ya have to tell me everything."
Bobby looks at Mack for a moment before answering. "He told me something totally crazy."
"What'd he tell you?"
"That.........that Molly Cunningham is my sister. That my Dad is Molly's father."
Mack is stunned. He looks away from Bobby, raising his hand to his mouth with a sigh.
Bobby can tell from the look on Mack's face that the news doesn't come as a surprise to him. "You knew about this, didn't you?"
"Look, Bobby....."
"Oh my God. It's really true? Molly is my sister?"
"Yeah, Bob. It's true."
"My God," Bobby says, burying his face in his hand.
"Look, this isn't my place to talk to you about this, it should be your father's. But just know that this happened back when everyone thought your mother was dead. After Val was kidnapped in Florida and Kate was helping Gary to take care of you and Betsy."
"So that makes it alright? My mother was only thought to have been dead for a couple of months and my father was screwing a woman half his age? God! And he has the nerve to judge ME for some of the crap I've done?"
"Look, why don't you try and relax and get some sleep, okay?" Mack asks. "Tomorrow morning, we'll get you an arraignment and get you home."
"No need to bother," Bobby says angrily. "I don't want my father's money bailing me out of this place."
Mack looks at the young man, feeling for the pain Bobby is going through.
A few minutes later....
"Is he okay?" Gary asks.
"He's........as well as can be expected."
"So when can we get him out of here?"
"Tomorrow morning, he'll be arraigned and bail will be set. But Gary, we have a problem. A very serious problem."
"Which is?"
"Bobby knows the truth," Mack replies. "Brandon Williams told Bobby that you're Molly's father."
Gary sighs deeply. "Damn. I was afraid of that."
"You knew Williams knew about Molly?"
"Yeah. Val and I had just come from seeing Brian and Kate. Williams demanded a hundred thousand dollars from Kate to keep his mouth shut."
"How the hell did that guy find out about this?" Mack asks.
"Beats the hell outta me. But I'm sure gonna find out," says an angry Gary.
The Ewing home....the next morning
"Mrs. Ewing, this is Molly. Is Bobby there? I tried calling his cell phone but he doesn't answer."
"Do you know when he'll be home? I'd really like to talk to him."
"Umm, no, sweety, I'm not sure."
"Would you have him call me, please?"
"Yeah, uh-huh," Val says quickly.
The Cunningham Home....
"Molly, look, I'll give Bobby the message," Val says. "I'm sorry, sweety, but I really have to go."
Before Molly can say anymore, Val hangs up, leaving Molly surprised at Val's abruptness. Molly knows something must be wrong.
"Molly?" Comes Trevor's voice from behind her.
She turns around to face her brother. "Trevor, I didn't hear you come in. What's up?"
"I was walking by. Your door was open and I couldn't help but overhear you on the phone. You were talking to Mrs. Ewing?"
"Yeah, I was," Molly says. "I've been trying to reach Bobby. But he doesn't answer his phone, and his mother sounded.....I dunno.....strange."
"Molly, Bobby's in jail," Trevor says.
"What? In jail? Trevor, how do you know that?"
"I was at the Averys' last night. While I was there, we knew something was going on across the street at the Ewings'. Eric came over and told me and Dylan that Bobby had been arrested. Betsy Avery was real upset."
"Do you know what he was arrested for?" Molly asks.
"Oh, God," Molly says. She takes a seat on her bed, a worried look on her face.
Cunningham Enterprises....
"Mr. Cunningham, Scott Cunningham is here to see you, sir."
Brian hesitates a moment as he thinks about whether or not he should see his half-brother. "Thank you, Doris. Send him in, please."
"Yes, sir."
Brian slowly stands from his seat at his desk and braces himself to meet the young man with whom he shares a father. A moment later, Brian's secretary Doris shows Scott in. "Can I get you anything?" Doris asks.
"No, thank you," Scott replies.
Doris smiles, then walks out of the office.
"Hello," Scott says.
"Hello," says Brian.
Scott walks over to Brian's desk. "I'm Scott. Scott Cunningham," he says, extending his hand.
Brian shakes hands with the young man. "Yes. You, umm, you look an awful lot like Jeff. And you're a bit younger than I imagined."
"I'm twenty-two."
"That's right."
"So why are you here? I thought I made it clear on the phone that I had no interest in seeing Jeff Cunningham again after all these years."
"I know you did," Scott says. "I wanted to meet you. I've been curious about meeting you for a while. After all, we do have the same father. I wanted to see what my half-brother was like. And, I was also hoping if I saw you in person, I could get you to change your mind about seeing Dad."
"I'm sorry. You'd only be wasting your time."
"Scott....."
"Please, just hear me out. I had an older brother named Ryan. He was a year and four months older than me. Growing up, Ryan and I didn't even know that our father had been married before, or that he had other kids." Scott pauses a moment as he chokes back tears, then continues. "When I was twelve, my brother......OUR brother, Ryan, was hit by a car while we were riding our bikes and he was killed. He was only thirteen. That nearly destroyed my parents. It was right after that, Dad told me he'd been married before he met my mother, and that I had an older brother and sister. Olivia and Brian. Brian. Ryan. Ryan was sorta named after you. Dad knew he had made a lot of mistakes with his first family. And I think losing Ryan made him miss you and Olivia even more. But, we had no idea where you were or how to find you."
"I'm sorry for the loss of your brother," Brian says.
"Brian," Scott continues. "When Dad was diagnosed with kidney cancer a few months ago, he started talking about you a lot. Wishing he could see you again. Then we found out the cancer had spread to his liver and was terminal. So we came here to L.A., to a cancer specialist. That's when I started looking for you. Brian, no matter how you feel about him or what happened in the past, he's still your father. Doesn't that count for anything?"
"Scott, I'm really very sorry for all the tragedies you've had. And I'm sorry to hear that Jeff is sick, but, If he had wanted to see me and Olivia, he could've done it. You can't expect me to go and visit a father that I haven't seen since I was a teenager, and who I only spoke to maybe three or four times from the age of eight to the age of sixteen, and then never after that? I wouldn't even know what to say to him, or how to act."
Scott pauses a moment, then walks over to Brian's desk. He takes a pen and piece of paper from Brian's desk. He writes something, then places it in front of Brian. "I'm really sorry you feel that way. Maybe if you'd talk to. If you knew the truth, you might understand and forgive him. That's our address if you change your mind. I know you don't know me, and you have no reason to care, but it'd really mean a lot to me." Scott turns and walks to the door to leave.
"Scott?" Brian calls to him.
Scott turns back and looks at him.
"Was he a good father?" Brian asks.
"The best," Scott replies, then walks out.
After his half-brother leaves, Brian retakes his seat at his desk. After a brief pause, he picks up the piece of paper and looks at the address for a moment.
Los Angeles County Superior Court....
The female Assistant District Attorney stands. "Your Honor, this isn't Mr. Ewing's first offense. In 2003, he was arrested and charged with assault and battery, and again in 2005."
"Mr. Ewing was not convicted in either of those cases, Your Honor, and the charges were dropped," Mack says.
"If I may be allowed to finish?" The female prosecutor says.
"By all means," says Mack.
"Thank you. Judge, the state has no objection to the granting of bail to this defendant. However, we feel that a higher bail should be set in light of Mr. Ewing's prior arrests for the same charge, and his family's financial standing in the community. Therefore, we are requesting a bail of no less than $30,000."
"What?" Mack objects. "Thirty thousand? For a charge of simple assault? That's ridiculous. Bobby Ewing isn't a criminal. A hot headed young man, perhaps, but he's never been convicted of a crime and he certainly not a flight risk."
"Mr. MacKenzie, I have here before me a review of the past arrests of this defendant," says Judge Coleman. "Due to the fact that this IS Mr. Ewing's third arrest of assault, I am inclined to agree with the state on this. Bail is set at $30,000, you can pay the bailiff." Judge Coleman bangs his gavel.
Mack turns to his client. "Well, at least you can get outta here."
Gary, Val, Betsy, Daniel, Meg, and Karen walk over to Bobby. "Sweety, thank God you're alright," Val says. "We'll pay the bail and get you out of here."
"I don't want HIM paying my bail," Bobby says, referring to Gary. "I'd rather stay in jail."
Everyone is shocked by Bobby's attitude toward Gary, especially Betsy, Meg and Karen.
"Bobby, that's ridiculous," Val says. "You have to get out of this jail."
"No."
"Mom, it's alright," Betsy says. "I'll pay the bail."
"Are you sure?" Val asks.
"Yes. That is, unless Bobby has any objection to ME paying it?"
Bobby shakes his head.
"Good," Betsy says. "Now let's get out of this place."
Bobby gives Gary a harsh look, then he and Val walk away. Betsy turns to her father.
"Daddy, what is going on? Why is Bobby being so hateful to you? Did the two of you have another fight?"
"It's a long story, sweetheart. And we all need to sit down as a family and talk about some things, but, not here."
"Okay, I'll meet you at home," Betsy says, then turns and walks out.
Mack places a reassuring hand on Gary's shoulder. "I never thought something that happened so long ago would come back and rip my family apart like this," Gary says sadly. "But, I guess secrets have a way of doing that." Without another word, Gary walks past Karen and out of the courtroom.
Karen turns to her husband. "Mack, what's going on? What's this all about?"
"Come on. I'll explain on the way home," Mack tells her.
Bradley & Boyd Law Firm....later
"May I help you?" Amber asks.
"I wanna see Brandon Williams."
"Do you have an appointment?"
"No, I don't. I I need to speak with him. It's important."
"I'll see if Mr. Williams is available," Amber says. "May I have your name?"
"Meg MacKenzie."
Amber looks at Meg, having recognized her name. She picks up the phone and buzzes Brandon's small office. "Brandon, Meg MacKenzie is here. Says she needs to see you and it's important."
Meanwhile, sitting at his desk, Brandon smiles. "Thank you, Amber. Please tell Ms. MacKenzie she can come right in." Brandon stands and walks over to the door as Meg bursts into the office.
"You know damned well what I'm upset about!" Meg says angrily.
"Oh, that's right. Your boyfriend, or your ex-boyfriend, or whatever Bobby is to you these days, was arrested last night, wasn't he? Is he still in jail? Or did his old man bail him out?"
"Why, Meg, are you trying to bribe me?"
"I want you OUT of my life. Out of all our lives, Brandon. And I'm willing to pay you a lot of money to leave and drop the charges against Bobby."
Brandon smiles. "That's a very tempting offer, Meg, and it's flattering to know that I rate so high with you that you're willing to offer me money, but, money isn't what I want."
"Then WHAT?" Meg asks angrily.
"Have dinner with me tonight," Brandon says.
"You've GOT to be out of your mind if you think I would ever even consider that."
"Then you must not want the charges against Bobby dropped that badly, then. You know, Meg, assault is a very serious charge. And did you know that Bobby also threatened me? I could drop the charges, and go quietly back to New Haven......or I could hang around here, and as the victim of two vicious assaults by your violent tempered boyfriend, I could make things very, very hard on him. After all, he's had two prior arrests for using his fists to solve an argument. That's not gonna look good when he goes to trial for this one, especially if I tell that jury just how violent, and scary he was on both occasions he attacked me. And how much I feared for my life. And I'm sure the other two guys Bobby beat up would be more than happy to testify on my behalf."
"You are without a doubt, the most low down piece of scum God ever put on this Earth," Meg says.
"Flattery. How sexy you are when you're all fired up. So how about it, Meg? Just one last dinner with me? Or Bobby faces a possible jail sentence, maybe even a felony on his record. All I ask is one dinner. Then you'll never have to see me again, I promise."
"Alright," says Meg. "Dinner. Tonight. And then, you drop the charges and get out of all of our lives."
"Deal. Meet me at my place.......7:30?"
"Your place? Are you kidding? No way."
"It's my place, or no deal at all. Just how important is Bobby Ewing to you, Meg?"
"Fine, then," Meg says after a hesitation. "7:30. And after tonight, I don't ever wanna see you again." Meg turns and quickly hurries out of the office.
After she's gone, Brandon smiles. Amber walks into the office with some papers. "The Jones contracts for you to look over," Amber says.
"Thank you, Amber."
"You want me to come over tonight?" Amber asks with a smile.
"I'm busy tonight, so that wouldn't work," says Brandon.
"Busy all night?"
Brandon looks at her and smiles. "Actually, no. Tomorrow's Saturday, so we don't have to work. Why don't you come over around 11? I'm sure I'll be done with my..........business......by that time."
Brandon smiles. "I can't wait for tonight, either," Brandon says.
The Ewing Home....
"Well, that was pleasant," Gary says sarcastically.
"Why don't I make us all some lemonade?" Val asks.
"Thanks, Mom, but, Dylan and I really should be getting home and relieve the baby sitter."
"Alright, darlin'," Val says. "Thank you for what you did.."
"You're welcome, Mom," Betsy says, hugging her mother. "Call me later?"
"I will."
Betsy looks at her twin brother awkwardly, then looks at her parents. "Umm, sure, Bobby."
"Yeah, I'll move my stuff in the den and you can have the guest room," Dylan says.
"You don't have to do that, I'll sleep in the den," Bobby says. "I'll sleep anywhere to get out of here." Bobby walks past his parents and up the stairs.
"Dylan, would you please go over and get the den ready for Bobby?" Betsy asks.
"Yeah, sure."
"Thank you," Betsy says as the boy walks out of the house. She then turns to her parents. "Okay, now, then, since I paid Bobby's $30,000 bail and he's gonna be staying at my house, don't you guys think that I FINALLY deserve to know what the heck is going on here? I don't for one minute believe this tension between Dad and Bobby is about Dad asking Michael to go into business with him instead of Bobby. Something serious is going on here."
"Yeah, you're right, Bets," Bobby says before either Gary or Val can answer. He comes down the stairs. "There is something serious going on here, and it's the fact that you and I have been lied to since we were kids."
"Bobby, what are you talking about?"
"Bobby, just shut up!" Says an angry Gary.
"Betsy, I guess you didn't know that you, Lucy, and I have another sister, did you?"
"Another sister?"
"Bobby, please," Val says. "Your father and I were gonna talk to Betsy about this."
"Honey, sit down," Gary says.
"I think I'd rather stand, thank you. Just tell me."
Gary sighs deeply. "Okay. Here goes. You remember when you and Bobby were kids, and we thought that your mother had been killed in a car accident down in Florida?"
"Of course. How could I forget? That was the worst time in our lives."
"It was the worst time in my life, too," Gary says. "In the weeks and months after thinking your mother had been killed, I was a mess. I tried my hardest not to show it to you kids, but I was. And I
"I remember," Betsy says. "Kate was wonderful. She took care of me and Bobby, she cooked, cleaned the house."
"Yes, she did," Gary says as Val leaves the room and walks into the kitchen, not really wanting to hear the story of her husband's long ago tryst with Kate again. Gary continues: "During that time, Kate and I became......close."
"Close? As in close friends?"
"I'd say they were a little more than friends," Bobby interrupts.
Betsy looks at her father. "Oh my God," she says. "Molly? Molly Cunningham is.......YOUR daughter?"
"Yes, sweetheart," says Gary. "I am Molly's father."
"How long have you known that?"
"Since Molly was three. We found out when Kate came back to Knots Landing in the spring of '97."
"Oh, wow," says Betsy. "And Molly has no idea?"
"No, she doesn't."
"And Brian?"
"He knows, too. We all agreed when Brian and Kate got engaged, that he would raise Molly as his daughter. We felt it would be best for both our families."
Betsy takes a seat in a chair by the window. "Who else knows about this?"
"Mack and Karen, replies Gary. "Other than that, nobody. Everyone else thinks that Molly is Brian's daughter, including Abby, since he and Kate met right around the time she left Knots Landing in 1993, when she was pregnant with Molly."
"I just can't believe this. I've known Molly since she was a little kid. And all this time, I had no idea that we shared the same father."
"How do you think I felt when I found out?" Bobby asks. "I almost slept with her, Betsy. I almost had sex with my own sister because our parents kept this secret from us for eighteen years. I've gotta get out of this house. I'll come back and get my things later, or maybe I can send Dylan to get what I need. But if I don't get outta here soon I'm gonna puke." Without saying another word, Bobby storms past his father and sister and leaves the house.
Betsy stands and looks at her father.
"Honey, I'm sorry," Gary says, near tears.
Betsy simply nods, then follows her brother out of the house as Val returns from the kitchen. She looks at her husband angrily.
"Val....."
The Cunningham Home....
"Well, hello, Kate. Nice of you to answer so promptly," Brandon says.
"Just tell me when and where to meet you with the money," Kate says.
"Knots Landing Memorial Park. Across from the baseball field in one hour."
"Fine. And Brandon, once you get this money, I expect to never see or hear from you again."
"Don't worry, Kate. This money will definitely persuade me to do the right thing for everyone involved."
Kate quickly ends the call and puts her phone down. She sighs deeply, then grabs her purse and
walks out of her room. She passes by Trevor's bedroom down the hall and knocks on his door. "Trevor," she calls to her son.
"Yeah, Mom?" The boy says from inside his room.
"I'm going out for while. I'll be back in about an hour and a half."
"Sure, Mom."
Kate fights back tears, then turns and heads down the stairs for her meeting with her blackmailer.
Meanwhile, in his bedroom, Trevor sits at his desk checking his email on his laptop. He seems anxious when he sees one email in particular. He quickly opens it. He smiles as he reads the email. After finishing, Trevor picks up his cell phone from the desk and speed dials Dylan's number. On the second ring, Dylan answers. "Dylan," Trevor says. "Dude, I just got that background report I ordered on Brandon Williams. Dude, you aren't gonna believe what was it in. Williams was a suspect in a series of rapes on his college campus when he was a sophomore. Yeah, this report says he was arrested and questioned, but never officially charged. And the rape case was never solved. Lack of evidence or something, but there were 5 girls who were raped while Williams was in school there in Columbus."
"Oh, wow," Dylan says. "You think he did it?"
"Bro, I'd bet money on it. This might just be the thing to get that jerk to leave town and leave my family alone. I'll talk to you later, dude. Bye." Trevor again reads over the email from the
A park in Knots Landing....a short time later
Kate walks around the car and gets in on the passenger side.
"Got the money?" Asks Brandon.
Kate opens her purse and takes out a bulky envelope. "One hundred and ten thousand dollars."
Brandon smiles. "Let me see."
"Not so fast. First, let me say something. This money is for you to keep your mouth shut, stay away from my daughter, and get out of Knots Landing. Go back to wherever it is you came from and forget that you ever met Molly."
"Fine," Brandon says, taking off his sun- glasses. He takes the envelope from her. "I'm gonna just trust you that it's all here, Kate. You seem like an honest woman, and besides, you know that if you double cross me, Molly will learn the truth, which I know you don't want." Brandon looks at her and smiles again. "I still say you're a damn fine looking woman to be, what? 43, 44? I find older women to be very......hot." Brandon reaches up and strokes her dark hair.
Kate immediately forces his hand away. "Don't even think about it."
"Come on, Kate. I know you must be lonely, what with you and your hubby separated."
"If you were the last man on the face of the Earth, you would still have zero chance of ever getting in my pants. Now if you're smart, you'll take that money and my family and I will never see or hear from you again." Without another word, Kate gets out of the car and slams the door.
Brandon laughs as he drives away. As he reaches the exit to the park, his phone vibrates as a message is received. He takes the phone from his cup holder and sees that he has a Facebook message notification. Opening his Facebook messenger, he is surprised to find that he has a message from Trevor Cunningham. He clicks the message open and begins to read. Suddenly, the smile disappears from his face and is replaced by a look of anger, then rage. He begins to breathe hard. "That.......that little punk. Okay, kid. I warned you once about playing an adult game. Now, let's see how you're gonna like the big leagues." Brandon sees Kate's car as she drives out of another exit to the park. He watches as Kate takes a left onto the street and drives in a direction opposite her home. Brandon nods, then looks at the Facebook message from Trevor again. He realizes that, with Kate gone, Molly probably at work, and Brian also probably at work, Trevor would be home alone except for that decrepit old maid working for them. Brandon puts his car into gear and turns right onto the street, driving off in the direction of the Cunningham home.
Meanwhile.....The Avery Home....
"Thanks," he says.
"Remember when we were kids? Mom's lemonade always helped whatever was wrong."
"I don't think lemonade is gonna help this one."
Betsy sighs as she takes a seat beside her brother. "I just can't believe what Dad told us. Oh, sorry, told ME. I forgot you already knew."
Dylan comes onto the patio at that moment. "Aunt Betsy," he says.
"Dylan, please, go back and play your game, or something. Bobby and I are talking."
"Yeah, well if you're talking about Molly Cunningham......I already know."
Bobby and Betsy look at the boy in shock. "You know?" Betsy asks. "What is it that you know?"
"Your dad is Molly's real father."
"How'd you know that?" Bobby asks.
"What, Trevor knows?" Betsy asks.
"Yeah, he overheard that jerk Brandon Williams blackmailing his Mom for money to keep quiet about your Dad being Molly's real father."
Bobby stands to his feet. "Brandon.......Brandon Williams again," he says with gritted teeth. "I'm gonna take care of that guy once and for all."
"No, you're NOT!" Betsy says adamantly, standing to face her brother. "Bobby, you just got out of jail this morning and I posted your bail. I am NOT ready to kiss $30,000 goodbye so you can go beat Brandon Williams up again and go back to jail."
"Betsy, the guy is ruining all of our lives and Molly's probably next on his list!"
"But you are not the one to handle this, Bobby. You keep saying you wanna be treated like an adult? Then stop acting like some hot-headed teenager ready to pound anyone who pisses you off!"
"Guys, look," Dylan says. "Trevor thinks he may have found a way to get rid of Brandon Williams."
"How?" Bobby asks.
"Trevor used his Mom's credit card and paid for one of those in depth background checks on Brandon. He just called me a little while ago and said that, when Brandon was in college, he was a suspect in a bunch of rapes that happened on campus."
"A rape suspect?" Betsy asks.
"Yeah, but he was never formally charged," says Dylan.
"Just when I think I can't hate Brandon Williams anymore than I already do, I find out something else about the guy that does make me hate him even more," Bobby says.
The Cunningham Home....
Meanwhile, downstairs, the front door of the Cunningham home slowly opens, and Brandon walks into the house. Having checked and seen that Trevor's car was the only vehicle parked outside, Brandon knows that the teenager is home alone. Even the maid's car is gone. Slowly, Brandon walks into the living room and finds no one. Then, he quietly slips up the stairs and then toward Trevor's bedroom, the first door on the right at the top of the stairs. Once just outside Trevor's bedroom, Brandon hears the shower running. He smiles, then slowly opens Trevor's bedroom door and walks in. The door to Trevor's bathroom is slightly ajar, and Brandon hears Trevor in the shower. He starts walking slowly toward the bathroom when he accidentally bumps into a small lamp, knocking it over.
"Yes, Trevor, there is DEFINITELY someone here," Brandon says with a smile.
"Dude, what the HELL are you doing in my house?" A startled and frightened Trevor asks.
Brandon smiles, then without warning, grabs Trevor by the throat, forcing him out of the shower and against the opposite wall of the bathroom. Trevor struggles to breathe. "Well, Trev, there actually IS something I can do about it. I can kill you right here and now, but since I'm not a killer by nature and really don't want killing a child on my conscience, I'm just gonna issue you another warning.........stay OUT of my life and my business. You tell anyone, and I mean ANYONE about what your little investigation uncovered, and about my little visit here today.........and I WILL get you. And it'll be when you least expect it. You tell anyone about this and get me arrested, I have someone else, a friend, who'll come and take care of you. Or maybe I'll just have them take care of your sister, or how about one of your friends. That Avery kid, maybe? He's your best friend, right?" Brandon releases his grip and Trevor falls to the floor, coughing. Brandon leans down to face him. "I told you once that you're just a little boy playing a very adult game. You wanted to play? Welcome to the big leagues, little buddy." Brandon then stands over him for a second and glances down at his middle section. Brandon smiles at him. "Not bad for a kid your age. Just remember what I said and keep your mouth shut.....about everything." Brandon grabs a towel from the wrack and tosses it down at Trevor. "Dry yourself off." Without another word, Brandon walks out, leaving Trevor crumbled on his bathroom floor, naked and coughing as he gasps for air and cries.
A few moments later, Brandon's car drives away from the Cunningham home. No sooner has Brandon driven away than Eric's car pulls into the Cunningham driveway and comes to a stop. Eric gets out and casually trots up the walk to the front door. He rings the doorbell. When no one answers, he opens the door and walks into the house.
"Hello?" He calls out. "Trevor? Hey, bro, you home?" He asks, heading up the stairs. He walks into Trevor's bedroom and hears the shower running and sees the bathroom door open. "Hey dude, I saw your mom at the bank. She said you were home." Trevor doesn't answer, but Eric hears whimpering coming from the bathroom. "Trev? hey, bro, you okay?" When Trevor doesn't answer, a concerned Eric walks into the bathroom to check on his cousin. He is shocked when he finds Trevor still sitting on the bathroom floor, his back against the wall and the towel laying over his waist. Trevor is crying. "Oh my God, dude, what's wrong? What happened?" Eric kneels beside his cousin. "Trev, did you hurt yourself?"
Trevor shakes his head.
"Dude, what happened to you?" Eric asks, putting his hand on the side of Trevor's face.
"Brandon Williams. He was just here. Dude, he......" Unable to finish his sentence, Trevor breaks down in tears.
"Hey, bro, it's okay," Eric says, feeling awkward, but putting his arm around his cousin's shoulder. "Come on, dude." Eric helps his cousin to his feet. "Dry off and get dressed, bro. I'll wait in your bedroom."
Trevor nods.
Eric walks out of the bathroom and closes the door behind him. He takes his cell phone from his pocket and opens his contacts. He scrolls down to Brian Cunningham's name and speed dials Brian's number. As Eric is about to hang up after several rings, Brian answers. "Hey, cousin Brian this is Eric. Umm, listen, I'm over here at your house, and I found Trevor. He's in pretty bad shape, man. I don't know what happened. He said something about that guy Brandon Williams being here. Yeah, I think you'd better get over here."
Brandon's apartment....late afternoon
"Well, Molly, what a surprise," he says, taking his key from his pocket. "What are you doing here? Couldn't force yourself to stay away from me?"
"Don't flatter yourself," Molly says as Brandon unlocks his door. She follows him into the apartment.
"Would you like a drink?" Brandon asks.
"No. I just came to hear to tell you what a pathetic piece of scum I think you are, having Bobby arrested like that."
"He deserved it. The guy came to my apartment late yesterday and brutally attacked me."
"You look fine to me," Molly says. "Doesn't look like he did much damage."
"The damage is psychological. I was scared for my life," Brandon says sarcastically. "Molly, if you don't mind, I've had a very trying day. In fact, I had an interesting little conversation with your mother a little while ago."
Brandon turns to her. "You," he says with a slight smile. "Your Mom paid me a hundred and ten thousand bucks."
"My mother? MY mother paid you a hundred and ten thousand dollars to what? Leave town? Stay away from me?"
"Well, then ten thousand was to leave town. The hundred grand, well, that was for keeping quiet about a little secret your folks don't want to get out."
"My parents don't have any secrets they'd pay that much money to keep. You're delusional. Why don't you just do us all a favor, Brandon and get lost? Just leave town."
"Aren't you even the least bit curious what your parents' big secret is?"
"No. Because I know there is no secret. You're just trying to upset me."
Brandon walks closer to her. "So, Molly, when Bobby Ewing was here yesterday, I got the impression that the two of you had already..........well, you know.........slept together."
"So what if we had?" Molly asks. "Wondering if Bobby was better in bed than you? A puppy would be better in bed than you."
Brandon laughs at Molly's somewhat lame attempt at an insult. "Molly, Molly, Molly. So sweet and innocent you don't even know any good comebacks. Such a shame, a girl like you. Well, maybe I'd better go ahead and tell you the truth. You deserve to know what your family's been keeping from you your whole life."
"You're full of it," Molly says. "You're such a pathetic loser you have to make up lies about people just to make yourself feel better. I really pity you." Molly turns and walks to the door as she starts to leave.
"Bobby's your brother, Molly," says Brandon.
Molly stops and turns back to him. "What?"
"Bobby Ewing is your half-brother."
Molly laughs. "You know, you really are crazy. I think that you should see a doctor about those delusions you've been having."
"If you don't believe me, why don't you ask your mother? She had an affair with Gary Ewing a long time ago. Gary Ewing, a man old enough to be her father. And you were conceived."
The smile fades from Molly's face. "No," she says. "No, you're lying!"
"I'm not lying, Molly. I'm the only one who told you the truth. Gary Ewing is your biological father, Molly. NOT Brian Cunningham."
Unable to control her anger, Molly runs at Brandon and violently slaps him. "YOU LYING PIECE OF FILTH!!" She screams.
"Go on, Molly. Ask Kate. Ask her who your real father is," Brandon says, laughing.
Molly breaks down in tears, then runs out of the apartment as Brandon continues to laugh at the chaos he has just created in the lives of so many people.
The MacKenzie Home.....evening
"Yeah," Mack says, uninterested.
"You wanna go out to dinner tonight?" Karen asks.
"What?"
"I asked you if you wanted to go out for dinner tonight. It's Friday night, the rest of the family has all gone out. Besides, I haven't been out anywhere since I came home from the hospital."
"Yeah, okay. We'll go out," Mack says.
"Mack, you're worried about Gary and Val and Bobby, aren't you?"
"Yeah, and Betsy and Molly, and everybody involved. Brian, Kate, Trevor. Geez, that guy Brandon Williams. That jerk's upsetting and hurting everybody he's come in contact with since he's been in town, including our daughter."
"I wonder why Meg didn't come to us about this," Karen wonders.
"Ah, who knows. Maybe she was dealin' with him around the same time you were dealin' with getting sick and having your surgery."
"My mastectomy," Karen says sadly.
"Huh?"
"I had a mastectomy, Mack. Do you realize since the surgery, we haven't called it what it really is? I had breast cancer, and a mastectomy."
"I know that, Karen," says Mack.
"Karen, we both know what kinda cancer you had, and what kinda surgery you had without having to put a name on it."
"It's good, though, that we call it what it is. That we talk about it. Discuss it."
"Karen......"
"Mack, look, I understand how hard this is. But, as hard as it is on you, I'm the one who had the surgery. I'm the one who lost a breast to cancer."
"Karen, please, would ya stop with this talk about the cancer?" Mack asks. "It happened, we can't change it. We survived it, thank God. The doctor even said that you'll be ready for reconstructive surgery in a few months. So I don't see any need for us to have to keep talking about it. It doesn't change the way I feel about you. I'm not in some kinda denial that it happened. But it IS something I'd rather forget that happened and move on with our lives. Now, let's decide where we're gonna eat." Mack walks past Karen and into the dining room, leaving Karen with a worried look on her face.
The Ewing Home....
"Molly," he says.
"Can I come in?"
"Of course."
Molly walks into the house. Gary closes the door behind her.
"Molly, ummm, what brings you over?"
"I need to know the truth."
"The truth?"
"Yes, the truth! Are you my father?"
Gary is silent for a moment as he looks at the young woman standing before him. "Molly, please, sit down."
"Yes," Gary answers quickly. "Yes, Molly. I am your father."
The young woman begins to cry. "My whole life.......all of you. You all lied to me my whole life."
"Molly, please, just let me explain."
"No," Molly says, shaking her head. "I don't wanna hear any explanation, or anymore lies from you." Molly turns and hurries out of the house.
Gary runs to the door after her. "MOLLY!" He yells after her as she gets into her car and drives away. "Damn it!" An angry and frustrated Gary punches the front door as Val comes down the stairs and watches him.
The Cunningham Home....
"He's calmed down a lot. He's resting. Eric's with him."
Brian takes a seat on a chair. "I have never in my life wanted to do bodily harm to anyone as much as I wanna break Brandon Williams in two right now!"
"I feel the same way," Kate says. "My God, I gave this guy a hundred and ten thousand dollars on the promise that he would get out of our lives for good, and this is what he does right afterward? He breaks into our home and assaults our son? Did you call the police?"
"No," Brian replies.
"Why not?"
Brian looks at his estranged wife. "Because I want the pleasure of handling Brandon Williams myself. No one, and I mean NO ONE puts his hands on my son and gets away with it."
Brandon's apartment....
"You know I've never been one to lie, Brandon," Meg replies.
"Is an evening with me so unpleasant?"
"You never use to feel that way," Brandon says.
"I use to think you were a good and decent person."
"Then why are you here? Oh yes, that's right. You agreed to have one last dinner with me in exchange for my dropping the charges against your knight in shining armor, Bobby."
"And that's a bargain you'd better keep," Meg says.
"Meg, what is it about me that makes spending an evening with me so unpleasant?"
"I can't believe you would even ask me that. Are you so out of touch with reality that you don't even know what an ass you are? I trusted you, Brandon. I allowed myself to fall in love with you, and you betrayed that love and that trust. All the while you were in a relationship with me, sleeping with me almost every night, you out banging some slut, and you lied to me about it."
"I made some mistakes, Meg," Brandon says. "Mistakes I apologized for and would attempt to rectify if you'd let me."
"I don't want you to rectify anything. I don't want you in my life, period! I don't know how much clearer I can make that. I broke up with you. I told you I never wanted to see you again, yet you follow me here to my home and try to get me back. When that didn't work, you managed to find my cousin and start seeing her. You caused no end of trouble for me and Bobby and even sent pictures to me of him and Molly to drive a bigger wedge between us. Yet you say you LOVE me?"
"Everything I have done has been because of my love for you," says Brandon. "All I wanted was for you to give me another chance. To let me prove to you that we can be good together again, just the way we were before. Could you have really fallen out of love with me so fast and so completely, Meg?"
"Whatever love I felt for you, Brandon, YOU killed it. And if there was any feeling at all left for you, you killed that when you came here and started hurting the people I care about. Now, I've kept my end of our bargain. I had dinner with you. Our dinner is now OVER, and I expect you to keep your end of the bargain by dropping the charges against Bobby first thing tomorrow morning." Meg stands from her seat at the table and grabs her purse hanging on the back of her chair.
Brandon also stands. "Meg, where are you going? This evening isn't over."
"Yes, Brandon, it IS. Dinner is all I agreed to. We had dinner, now I'm leaving." Meg turns and walks toward the door.
"Nope, I don't think so, Meg," Brandon says, following her. He steps in front of her, blocking her way to the door.
"Get out of my way, Brandon."
"No. I only agree to have dinner," says Meg.
"I guess you don't want those charges dropped very badly, then. I can make things very rough on Mr. Ewing."
"You listen to me, you jackass. If you don't get out of my way and let me out of here, AND drop those charges against Bobby, then I will cry rape, and you'll be the one going to jail."
Brandon laughs. "Meg, come on. You're a lawyer. Who'd believe that. After all, if you hate me so much, then why are you having dinner here, alone with me, in my apartment. You know how these things are turned around on the victim."
"Let me out of here.....NOW!" Meg says, beginning to fear Brandon.
"No, Meg. Since you just threatened to cry rape, which, I don't think anyone would believe anyway, you might as well have a legitimate reason to cry.......since you yourself already said that you don't lie." Brandon takes off his top shirt.
"Brandon.....what are you doing?" Meg asks, becoming even more afraid as he grabs her by the wrist with one hand and begins stroking her hair with the other.
"Brandon, no......stop," Meg cries as Brandon begins kissing her passionately. "Stop.....Brandon, please, stop.....don't do this!"
Brandon forces Meg to the floor and gets on top of her. He holds both her hands with one of his hands while he begins to undress her with his other hand. Brandon grabs a hankerchief from the coffee table and stuffs it into Meg's mouth to muffle her cries. Meg fights and struggles against him but Brandon is simply too strong for her as he proceeds to undress her.
Back on Seaview Circle....
"No, I haven't. Why, is anything wrong?" Val asks.
"He took off earlier. We got some even more disturbing news about Meg's ex-boyfriend Brandon Williams earlier. Bobby was real upset."
"Your father left in a huff, too."
"Don't tell me something else happened."
Val looks at her daughter and nods. "Uh-huh. Molly came by earlier. She knows the truth, that Gary is her father."
"How'd she find out?" Betsy asks.
"I dunno. I seriously doubt Brian and Kate told her, they were so dead set against her knowing. Your father thinks Brandon Williams may have told her the way he told Bobby. Betsy, I'm worried. I mean I'm VERY worried. We don't even know this Brandon Williams, yet, he has practically destroyed our whole family, and I'm terrified what your father will do if he finds him."
"I know, Mom. I have this terrible feeling that Bobby may have gone to confront Brandon Williams again, even after I told him not to. And with Bobby's temper......"
"Bobby's temper AND Gary's," says Val. "Both of them have the EWING temper. And I'm also afraid that....." Val fights back tears as she stops short.
"You're afraid all this might drive Dad back to drinking again?"
Val looks at her daughter, tears streaming down her face. "Your father has started drinking again over less than this. Much less."
Mack and Karen drive up at that point and come to a stop in their driveway next door.
"Mom, maybe we should tell Mack, and he can help," Betsy says.
Getting out of their car, Mack and Karen walk over to the Ewing home. "Hi," Karen says with a smile. "Warm evening, isn't it?"
"Uh-huh," Val replies.
"Summer is starting to wind down, though," Mack says. "Hey, what's up? Why are you two looking so down in the mouth?"
"We're worried about Dad and Bobby," says Betsy.
"Why?" Karen asks.
"Molly knows that Gary's her father," Val says. "And Gary thinks that Brandon Williams is the one who told her."
"Oh, Lord," Karen says, taking a seat on the porch beside Val.
"How'd Molly take it?" Mack asks.
"Not very well. She confronted Gary, asked him if it were true, and he couldn't lie to her. Then she stormed off. Gary left a little while later, and I'm worried to death because he left in such a hurry he didn't take his cell phone with him. I found it on the coffee table after he left."
"I'm also afraid Bobby may have gone after Brandon Williams again," Betsy says.
"Well, I sure hope not," says Mack. "If he did then he did a really stupid thing since he just got outta jail this mornin'."
"Mack, we found out that Brandon Williams has a criminal history in Columbus, Ohio. He was suspected of raping five girls on the campus of the college he attended," Betsy says. "But he was never convicted."
"Rape? Rape?" Mack asks angrily. "This son of a bitch was a suspect in a rape case and my daughter was dating him?"
At that moment, Meg's car speeds into the cul-de-sac and comes to a screeching stop in front of Mack and Karen's house. Karen and Val stand from their seats on the Ewing porch. All four rush next door as Meg gets out of her car and runs to the MacKenzie house.
"Meg?" Karen yells to her daughter.
Meg doesn't reply. She fumbles for her house keys, unlocks the door to the MacKenzie home, and runs inside. Mack and Karen exchange worried looks and run after her. Val and Betsy stop in the MacKenzie's front yard and look on with concern, each of them realizing that something bad must have happened to Meg.
Inside the MacKenzie home, Meg rushes up the stairs, followed by Karen as Mack stays behind in the living room. Meg runs into her bedroom crying. Karen walks in.
"Meg? Sweetheart? What happened?" Karen asks, walking over to her daughter as she stands in front the mirror looking at herself, crying. "Meg?"
The young woman turns to her mother. "Mom," she cries. "Mom....."
"Oh, baby," Karen says, embracing her daughter as Meg begins to cry hysterically. "Shhhh, it's okay, Meg. It's okay. You're home and you're safe." Karen lovingly kisses her daughter on the head as she cradles Meg in her arms.
Brandon's apartment....
Bobby looks down at his hands, the palms of which are both covered in blood. Then he looks over at what lays beside him on the floor.........Brandon Williams, who appears to be dead!!
Just as he darts through the door leading to the stairs, Amber Carlson steps off the elevator, a huge smile on her face as she makes her way down the hall to Brandon's apartment, and what she hopes will be another night of passion. Reaching Brandon's apartment, she rings the doorbell. Receiving no answer, she knocks on the door, which she notices isn't closed completely. "Hmmm, he must be in the shower and left the door open for me," she says to herself. Amber pushes the door open and walks into the apartment. Almost immediately, she stops short as she sees, directly in front of her, next to the coffee table, Brandon lying on his back on the floor, a pool of blood oozing from under the back of his head. Amber immediately lets out a blood-curdling scream!
